Wish there was an updated version of this book. Unfortunately, I needed it to write curriculum from. Information is good, especially for a beginner. I just wish there was a more updated version. Four years is a long time to go without an update for a topic like virtualization.

This is a great starter book for those just getting involved in virtualization technologies. The heavy use of graphics as well as free tools for the labs, makes this a simple and practical guide. I would highly recommend this book to anyone that is wanting to start their career with virtualization, or is looking to branch out into virtual. Well written and a worthwhile read.

I would say the equivalent of a first semester college course.You start with the basic concepts of virtualization and the advantages it offers. There are no assumptions made that you have prior knowledge or experience with the subject matter.The entire book is very well illustrated with lots of “screenshots” and diagrams of concepts explained in the text. One thing I appreciated was the placing of the diagrams on the same page as the written explanations. That way the reader can easily alternate between reading the text and studying the diagrams for visual input of the concepts being explained.Occasional mentioning of the history of the subject is well placed and helpful.There is an excellent balance of information between virtualization used in the professional computer field and using it on your own personal computer. The author provides information on three different “brands” of software. He even guides you to the availability and sources for free virtualization software for personal use on you own computer.There are step-by-step instructions for creating virtual machines and installing different operation systems on those machines.It is just an excellently written text by one who obviously has a natural ability to teach others. You will come away feeling completely confident to create your own virtual machines and install operating systems on them.Or if you just want a solid understanding of what virtualization is and the incredible advantages it offers, that too will be yours.

The best part (besides the awesome recipes) is that there is a section at the beginning that explains some of the ingredients that aren't known to western culture, and show where they can be bought. This sometimes even includes links to where they can be bought on Amazon if available.I'd highly recommend this book to anyone looking for authentic Chinese food recipes that contain authentic ingredients, and is great for helping you find those ingredients.

So many!I love the bonus section on the History of Chinese food. I am not big on cooking and I have never cooked homemade Chinese food myself. Until I bought this book. The recipes were easy to read and execute. I would have liked a couple more that were more simple in ingredients and steps but then again some others may love it exactly how it is. The taste was awesome and it even looked pretty at times! Over all, this is a great book if you want to learn how to cook Chinese food at your home.

I used to think that Chinese recipes were too complicated. Jenny's book was very helpful, gave me more insight and I plan on trying several more of her recipes.

I just read through the whole recipe book and I'm excited to make some authentic Chinese food. The layout and recipe instructions are easy to follow. I particularly liked the helpful section "important ingredient directions" It explains the most common ingredients and shows you where to find them!

Outstanding book from an American living in China!

I really admire the author's work here. I think they did a great job in relating a variety of Chinese dishes in an easy to follow format. Unlike some recipes that call for exotic recipes, most of these can be done by anyone.

Easy to use and well laid out. Good recipes.

John Branch has captured an incredible tale about an incredible family in Utah. And it is so very well told. Not only do readers learn about what it takes to be a world champion rodeo competitor and the importance of family, but we're also treated to a portrait of southwestern Utah (think Zion National Park) and environs and the challenges to those who live there. The detail clearly was gleaned by careful observation over time. Branch treats everyone with great respect. His prose is spare and effective, mirroring the reticence of the men and women he writes about and passing no judgment about triumphs, tragedy and missteps. It was about a subject in which I had little interest until Branch made me interested.

Great book about a remarkable family. It's not just the story of undoubtedly the greatest bronc riding dynasty in rodeo history, it also examines the problems endured by many modern ranchers in the West. Drought, capricious and incompetent administration of range allotment's by the BLM and Forest Service, as well as the steady encroachment of tourism and developers, cause the family to explore option's that will enable them to continue to raise cattle on this land that five generations of Wright's have worked and loved. I've followed the boys' careers in the arena and marveled at their talent. This book gives you a behind the chutes look at their toughness and physical skills. There is also much to admire in Bill, the patriarch, as he runs the cattle, virtually alone as his Sons and Grandsons burn up the highway chasing a berth at the National Finals Rodeo.

I enjoyed the detail accounting of the Wright family and the many hardships they've endured on their ranching operations and on the rodeo circuit. I now have a better understanding of the rodeo cowboy and the hard scrabble life they follow. I was amazed at the many busted bones, bruised muscles, and very serious injuries the Wright brothers and all the cowboys absorbed on those mean saddle broncs. The prize money can be substantial especially for the world champions but as Mr. Branch wrote, it is a hard life with all the travel and expense of following the circuit. After reading the book though, these cowboys have earned my respect for competing in the sport they love.

Fascinating story of a family doing so well in a single rodeo event. A lot of long days of travel and overcoming injury are not so visible to the public. Couple the 250 nights away from home with the demands of running a family cattle ranch and you understand the work ethic and passion for winning that the Wrights demonstrate. Beautiful images of country living cast against the demands for other land uses and the limitations on grazing rights made me appreciate the challenges of modern cowboys.

I got this on Kindle and read it in two days. We live in the area written about and I loved reading about the family that runs the cattle on the Mesa behind our house. I bought it for that and then got pulled into the rodeo scene. I would have never imagined what it takes to get through a season, it left me worn out! The author did a good job of not romanticising the life, lots of heartbreak, family problems, land issues, all in the book.I have friends that know the family very well and they loved the book, too.

I grew up riding horses and rodeoing in Nevada and was drawn to read this book since it focused on a family that lived a "cowboys life!" The famous Wright family, exemplifies generational traditions steeped in honest thoughts, words and moments that have shaped this family's history. For me, knowing the Las Vegas branch of Wright's, also cowboys, with the same goodness and heart, it brought back the many stories I'd heard about Uncle Bill and leading the tourists down the Grand Canyon over the summer months. If you want a glimpse into the life of real ranch cowboys chasing the dream to qualify for the NFR, this is the book for you. Its not always pretty or clean but its truthful and filled with the love a family has for each other, always.

This is a great story of a saddle bronc riding family, with three of its members achieving world champion status. The story isn't just about rodeoing, it's about life on a big cattle ranch. I enjoyed it tremendously.

I think carefully reading this book cover to cover will get you the most value, and I am working on that. But the pictures and descriptions in each section are useful as well, so if you’re in a rush and trying to figure out why your drawing isn’t expressing the emotion you were hoping for, flipping to that emotion’s section can give you a lot of helpful information. My one complaint is that fear gets the fewest pages and least details of the big four emotions (fear, joy, anger, sadness). I found this disappointing because of the particular project I bought the book for. I would love an expansion on the information and pictures in that section, particularly for the more subtle expressions like anxiety, worry or concern. Most fearful faces I see in real life do not have their mouth open in panic, but are still powerfully evocative. This is addressed in the book, but with less detail than other sections.And this doesn’t belong in this book, but I would love a similar exploration of body language and physical poses that go with each emotion. I found myself acting out the expressions while trying to understand the descriptions, and most that I tried brought out almost instinctual body motions (and believe me, I’m no actor!). It emphasized how much all of these expressions are shown in the entire body.

As a trained illustrator I found this book incredibly helpful. It exceeded my expectations as a learning tool. This book takes an advanced look at the anatomy of the skull and face and ties it directly to it's use in creating expression. This book upped my game by providing detailed knowledge on exactly how expression is formed and why, allowing me to use these tools to create more subtle and nuanced visual notes.This book focuses more on an anatomical look rather than resorting to a step by step "how-to" and is geared toward those who already have an understanding of the fundamentals of drawing in general, however the knowledge contained within would be useful to any level of skill or practice. I highly recommend this and it should be a staple on any artist's shelf.

I was VERY disappointed by the print quality of this book and returned it.This is an art instruction book yet the art was so poorly represented that it looked like the book was a photocopy of a photocopy.There was no way to distinguish values or even get a good idea of what the illustrator was trying to express in the drawings.Since my purchase, I have found out that many people have this problem with the book, and that the first printing (hardcover edition) is much better. I have not seen the first edition and it's only available through used book sellers.So good luck, and as for my review, I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS BOOK AT ALL FOR ANYONE SERIOUSLY STUDYING ART FOR THE REASONS ABOVE.~Laura

When drawing or painting people, getting the facial expression right is very important. This book mentions that the old masters were masters of facial expression. Well, this book will help you get the facial expressions on your people right. For example, there's such a thing as a 'real' and 'fake' smile, and the artist has to decide which one they want to use for their painting or drawing. It would never do to draw a fake smile by mistake when the artist wants a real smile. Fear, disgust, surprise, and many other emotions are discussed in detail as well, with drawings and photos showing exactly which facial muscles are involved in producing each emotion.

Great instruction, poor reproduction of the artwork. Previous reviewers mentioned this issue, but when I checked the previews, this appeared to be an issue only with the soft cover. For those relying on those previews, the hardcover has the same overdrawn look as the softcover preview. Makes me wonder if these were switched, and the softcover actually provides a better reproduction of the artwork.

Thank you. the good part of this book os that it shows different muscle parts and they are drawn. in pencil that allows the viewer better .....ability or . ...knowledge on how to use different poses of the face herself/ himself. i draw for enjoyment but have successfully exhibited in the past. i also like the different facial expressions shown.

I'm a sculptor, very interested in capturing expression, and have been looking for a good book of facial expressions for some time. I saw the title, ordered the book and was extremely disappointed when it arrived; the last thing I wanted was someone else's interpretations of facial muscles. I needed photographs of the real thing, so I set the book aside, intending to send it back.Then I took a class with a very well-known portrait sculptor, and was surprised to hear him recommend this same book. "But it only has pencil sketches!" I protested, "Shouldn't we use pictures of real people?""Forget photographs. You need to actually read the book. Have you?" he asked, "You must READ it, every page. This is the best facial reference for the sculptor that I have ever found."I followed his advice, and he's right. Faigin is an extremely talented sketch artist and his drawings will teach you a lot, but the accompanying text is really what makes this book work. He's carefully catalogued what each of the muscle groups in the face is doing throughout the expression of an emotion, and the sketches simply show what he's talking about. The text explains WHY we recognize certain muscle positions as a particular expression, and helps us understand the relationships of muscles, tissue and skin when the face moves.Faigin starts with how facial muscles portray key emotions, then moves to comparisons of different muscle groups in subtler positions. For sculptors, it probably helps to have a 3D model of the facial muscles (in addition to a mirror) handy while reading this book. But it's such a rich store of information that you'll learn plenty without them.

This book helped my son to learn to draw facial expression years ago, and so the Mrs. and I bought a copy for our niece, who is also quite the young artist. This is an amazing book and really helpful.

This is great if you are just getting started in the industry. If you've been working in the field for awhile, you won't learn anything new. This is more for people to learn. If you teach at your hospital, then you might consider getting this to teach the new people, and it is fairly inexpensive.

I love this as a reference for college, or just even as an owner's basic overview of what their vet's office looks at and even includes a vaccination guide for pet owners. It has basic first aid information and an overview of parasites that ail pets and the most common medications typically given along with uses and side effects. It's just very neat.

My daughter really likes this so very much. She said that it had helpful information at her dispense when attempting to benefit during work, class, home, and ultimately the best of all, our loving animals patient care. Thank you.

At the age of around 11 or 12 I had this book - probably, a fifth copy typewritten on cigarette paper (to allow making more copies at once).It's a pretty cruel and frank portrait of human nature. It's full of jokes only Russians probably can understand. Probably half of this book is now cut into little quotations and is used in daily conversations by Russian intelligentsia. Mandatory (and fun) reading for those studying Russian culture (as Master and Margarita is).

I am reading this book in Russian language. I read also different translations in English. But even best English translation definitely cannot reproduce the same atmosphere and deep meaning of the conversations in the book. The book is fun to read. The story is amazing and absurd, proving that "New Better World" cannot be build just on the demagogue, equality of everyone and everything, and terror. Without deep knowledge of history,culture, intelligence and common sense only P.P. Sharikov can be produced. The quotes of Professor Preobrazhensky I am using on daily basis.

There are not enough stars to rate this book!This is classic and will live forever!One of my favorite writers.

I have seen a movie, but had to read a book too. Just about everything is about the present day Russia.

A classic, incomparable Russian novel by an immortal author.
