I'm not sure why I don't learn. Hooke followed his previous pattern. He writes a great book followed by not even good. This book wasn't nearly as interesting as the previous book. We start with a time skip, so don't expect to jump in where you left off in book one. It's not big, but it was irritating. Then the book was slow followed by a horrible ending with a cliffhanger. I won't read any more.
This is the 2nd book in the Monster Tamer series by Isaac Hooke. It's a bit of a departure from his normal science fiction into a more fantasy setting, but I really enjoyed the first book and this one continues the action. Conqueror pick up where Breaker left off, with Malem and his team continuing to search for the black Vorgon's other Black Swords.Conqueror definitely keeps the pages turning, I enjoyed a lot of the dialoge and some of the detail of Malem's back story and experiences. I also like Malem's struggle with his ties to humanity and whether or not he should risk everything to help a race he has never really felt a part of. I really enjoyed the ending as well, and I'm excited to see where the series goes next.
Sooooo did not end the way I thought it was going to. But can’t wait to read the next one to see what happens next. All around great read.
The very concept of a Breaker is intriguing and the method of increasing his power just adds to the fun. Another great read that makes a reader look forward to the next installment. Great action, interesting characters, and lots of monsters!
Lots of good fighting scenes, new and interesting monsters, characters are believable (including the evil ones). Overall quite good, although the ending is very cliffhangery. Really need the third book to finish. 4.5 stars.
Good book. More of the same mostly. Enjoyed learning more of Malem power and it's source and limits. Finally telling Malem full backstory. I don't however like the ending. I hope this is fixed soon as I have abandoned some of Hooked series before for the same twists. May not continue this series of working for the other team.

Normally I do not read magic stories being a sci-fi nerd. However, the series is a page turner and the end of the second book is quite a surprise raising the stakes for the next book that I expect to be another good one.
