My sister and I have been hunting for helicopter-themed books for her toddler, who lives near an airbase, sees them often, and is obsessed with them. He's okay with airplanes and firetrucks and whatnot, but he loves helicopters the most. I was really pleased to do a search and find this one. He loves it!Last weekend, I was helping to keep him occupied while my sister and brother-in-law did some stuff around the house that was too dangerous for an 18month old toddler to be underfoot. He started to get annoyed at not being let into the party, so I pulled out Yellow Copter. We read it four times in a row, then he "read" it to me, pointing out the pictures he liked and showing me the matching toys.The plot is ultra simple and the pictures move somewhat slowly, so it's really easy to embellish the story as you read and make up sound effects in addition to the ones on the page. I wasn't sure about the ferris wheel and Teacher being stuck on top, but my nephew understands "stuck" and "up high", and there's so many stories about fire trucks using their ladders, it seems to be okay. Over the next dozen or so times we read it together, he especially liked the pages with the pilot. (It just so happened that the following weekend, we took him to Disney World for the first time, and he is obsessed with going up high in Dumbo - just like the helicopter pilot, come to think of it.)I doubt my other nephew or niece would be nearly so taken with this book, but for our helicopter-obsessed kid, it's perfect.

I bought this book for my husband (a pilot) when we were expecting our first child based off of reviews that it mentioned helicopter parts as part of the story. (Tail boom, skids, rotor...) This book is my infant's favorite story, hands down! It's short and simple, but fun with great drawings. I wish Yellow Copter would have more adventures! So grateful to the other reviewers. We recommend this book as well!!

Red Truck was the first book in the series we bought and all three of my boys have LOVED it. This one is good, but not as much of a favorite. It is better than Blue Boat. The plot is a bit weak and the rhymes aren't as well written. They don't stick in your head as well.

My little daycare boy who loves vehicles, loves this book! He's only 1 and he says yellow copter, yellow copter when he is looking for this book to read. Then when he reads it to himself he says yellow copter on every page! Yes it is that endearing. Excellent illustrations too! I think we have all of the books from this series. They are worth it for your favorite vehicle loving kid! Plus it's a board book! So nice for toddlers!

Short, but we love helicopters. I wish there were more kid books about all the major parts of the helicopter.

This whole series is the BEST. My nearly 2 year old loves books and these are all so good! All the sounds “whup whup whup” “weee” etc make it very entertaining and the illustrations are fantastically punchy! Blue boat, yellow helicopter and red truck would all make a great gift for any boys!!

I bought this for my son. He is almost 3 years old and is obsessed with things that go. He loves this book! I couldn't find many books with a helicopter as the main character. It's a perfectly simple story with language he understands well. The helicopter is on every page, and my son also likes to find the bird that appears throughout the book. It's fun to do the sound effects with him, too! Great book! I will probably buy the other books in this series now.

The first is one of many pages showing in great detail an actual stitcher making actual stitches. She would have to be physically guiding your hand to make it any clearer. The other 3 designs fascinate me: the trunk and branches of the tree are stitched exactly the same. But with the change of color in the fabric, slight variation of color in the gilt threads and modification of additional elements, we see how unique a given pattern can turn out.Search Press Needlecrafts books are excellent. I've waited for this book for more than half a year and it doesn't disappoint. The author's credentials as an embroiderer and teacher are important because the book is meant for the beginner. She covers the materials used (with excellent color photos of them) and then the design which is her sampler for beginners (see cover). She shows how to prepare the fabric in the laced up frame followed by transfering the design by tracing or lightbox method. How to thread the needle and end. Next section describes all the stitches used on her sampler: laidstitch, couching, trellis stitch, padding, and satin stitch. This is followed by doing a leaf with the previous stitches, and then a section on long and short stitch, brick stitch and "turning and passing". Next project is doing a diamond in brick stitch and also a circle. Diamond design in two colors, section on using kid, three circles design, lozenge design, teardrops design, raised gold, basket stitch and finally acorn project done two ways. She mentions her supply sources in her intro but there is no other listing for the materials. I would have liked more information on the gold threads but that can be found in other books. Photos and other illustrations are excellent. Print is good also. The book is meant to be worked through on the various small projects and this will give a good foundation to the subject. Highly recommended for anyone interested in goldwork.

Full of great pictures but light on information. I'm new to the field. I hope there are better books out there. It seems to be a broad overview of the subject. Nice book but not that useful if you are looking for real instruction.

This book has more information than any other three books on the topic. Well illustrated and a goldmine (heh) of knowledge.

What beautiful inspiration for stitching gold work and excellent instructions! If only I had more time to stitch! I want to do them all...Arrived quickly and in great condition.

Just what I wanted a book on Goldwork embroidery suitable for the beginner.Directions are easy to follow and the samples are simple. I would have like a few more projects aside from the Acorn project.

I bought these to use in a den meeting to help my cub scouts pass off a requirement in which they needed to learn about 2 famous Americans. After reading 2 of the books, all of the boys asked if they could take them home because they didn't get to finish them and they wanted to borrow the others as well. They are written and illustrated in such an engaging way! Love them! My daughter who teaches 6th grade math was impressed and commented how great she thought they were.

Disclaimer: I’ve written the same review to almost all the books on this series. My daughter and son loves them.Been purchasing the whole series for a few months now. Super easy readings for kids, even for the 20-min trip between house and school. Interesting lives, and you can later discuss the story with the kids. I have found that most of them (stories) stick to their minds, even recalling full names and events a few weeks/months later.

We love this book series and this one does not disappoint. The emphasis on humility, hard work, and perseverance is outstanding. Neil Armstrong’s biography is told in an engaging way with great illustrations. My 5 year old loves it!

We have loved these books and eagerly await them each time he writes a new one. I like how they have gotten a little longer as the first few didn't have as much detail as all the recent books. I always recommend these books to friends with children.

All of these “Ordinary people” books are wonderful, but this is my 5.5yo son’s favorite. This is also the longest one in the set. It’s theme is working hard, getting back up when you fall, and never giving up. It’s perfect for all kids!

Do a favor and buy this book for your children, grandchildren. Brad is an excellent story teller and this book is a national treasure retelling the story of America's dream realized of landing a man on the moon.

Great book, very inspiring for a young mind. Only part I personally chose to edit-on-the-fly was in reference to some of the tragedies experienced in early missions. It's good information, but not needed for young ears. Will be insightful later on.

Great Book! My grandkids love it! We read it over and over! It is fun and entertaining, but has a great message that states (implies), in the story line, that even though a person may be different from the norm, we all have our strengths. Chris Van Dusen has been called the "Dr. Suess of Maine." If you read this, you'll know why.

We love this book in my house. The smart kid saves the day! The author doesn't shy away from big, beautiful, interesting words, and the illustrations (much in the style of Mad Magazine - I believe Van Deusen used to illustrate for them?) are bold, funny and awesome. They rhyme is perfect, and fun to read. We give this book as a gift often.

Chris Van Dusen is by far the best childrens author of our time. His illustrations tell the stories and the stories make the adult and child want to read on to see what happens. I live in Maine and he has a way making the pine tree state look like a fantasy land. These books have opened my grandchildren minds. They like to take his stories and add their own ideas. I read a lot of books to my grandchildren and Chris's book are the ones I look forward to reading. My 1 1/2 year old little grand daughter loves Hugo, she calls him Ooogoo. Thank you Chris

Chris Van Dusen is the MASTER of child lit. LOVE LOVE his prose and his illustrations. We own EVERY one of his books. You can't go wrong. The artwork is like a fun retro Jetson's vibe.. sorta vintage technology in a way but glossy and adorable and always great messages.

I checked this book out of the library for my 2.5 year-old twin boys, and we read it so many times that one of them had it memorized within a week. They LOVE this book -- so much so that we bought a copy. And a copy for our friends. We went on to buy "If I Built A Car," but that book wasn't nearly as well-loved as "Randy Riley's Really Big Hit." Now my sons use toilet paper rolls to pretend they're "space boy telescopes" and look out the window at "massive fireballs." I highly recommend it -- it has just enough tension and humor to keep the kids engaged and laughing.

Randy Riley is awesome!Chris Van Dusen's books are amazing. We discovered him through our library and fell in love with his writing and art. We've read all his books to our kids hundreds of times each and they are always fun to read and look at. His art is really breathtaking. Best of all we got to meet him and get our books signed and he's even super cool in person. A really nice guy. I highly recommend getting his entire collection of books.

This book was perfect. It was for a little guy with glasses who is very smart. I don’t know about his ability to hit a baseball, but his Dad loves baseball.

Another great book by Chris Van Dusen! I absolutely love his books. The illustrations are beautiful, and the stories are fabulous! This one is great - about a boy who isn't good at baseball, but IS good a building a giant robot to save the town from a huge meteorite! I look forward to reading his books over and over again as much as my kids do! We also have The Circus Ship, and love it just as much.

I got my National Pokédex book for my Pokémon Ultra Sun and Pokémon Ultra Moon games yesterday (12/29/2017). This book lists the moves that Pokémon can learn in the Pokémon Ultra Sun and Pokémon Ultra Moon. I do use this book in order to prepare my team before I do the online competitions that I enter in my Pokémon Ultra Moon game. I still have my National Pokédex for my Pokémon Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire games. This book is really a good reference and the book tells you how to obtain or where to find the Pokémon that are needed in order to complete the National Pokédex.

My 4 year old and 7 year old both love this book. A great add-on if they’re playing the games. Has lots of Pokémon the regular book did not.If your kids are like mine and will spend hours reading it and flipping through it, you may want to find a hard copy or library version.

If your kid is as anal as hell and comes with a healthy dose of OCD this will be the best thing you ever did for them. I looked at this and wondered who could care so much? Who was tasked and cursed with the production of this craziness in all its detail. Yes my son stared at this for hours. Does he know what the heck he is actually looking at? If you plan to strategically conquer all of Pokémon’s world and become a Pokémon dictator this is your roadbook to paradise.

I’ve been playing Pokémon since the first generation, as well as buying the Pokédex to go along with each set of games.
