I always enjoyed the TSN clips I saw of Jay and Dan from Sports Centre, so I had high hopes for this book. It's ok. Maybe if I grew up in Canada I would enjoy it more. I'm not familiar with any of the sportscaster names or TV channels mentioned. Some of the stories are funny, but most are just moderately interesting. I was hoping for a bit more outrageous and crazy tidbits, it's surprisingly tame.

Hilarious stories of a man's journey reaching the top of the sports broadcasting game. Very entertaining and quick book to read.

Very interesting following Jay's career - much like a lot of people, growing up, decisions that change your life's direction. Only with Jay, his stories are all very funny and interesting.

The epic of our times. Homer ain't got s*** on Jay Onrait.

I have listened to Jay and Dan's podcast ever since they came to the US and it was nice to read about Jay's early days. Great, easy read and can't wait until he writes another one

This excellent book should be required reading in all of our high schools. It is well-written and contains useful facts and information. Not reading this book is cheating yourself. Over and over throughout history, capitalism has been proven to be the system which makes things best for humans, while all of the various forms of collectivism (communism, socialism, fascism) have proven to be failures, making things worse for most everyone. Even so, we are afflicted with evil people driven by the devil in many media, university, and government school positions pushing collectivism. We can and should put collectivism in the sewer of history, along with absolute monarchies, landed gentry, serfdom, and slavery.

Well written, accurate.

Great insight into the agenda driven politics that only seek to keep people dependent on big government. Pudzer’s writing appears humble and honest. A must read!

Hats off to Mr. & Mrs .Pusder for their courage and willingness to endure the attacks and set the example for others. Sincere thanks. This book should be part of every college and secondary curriculum. It NEEDS to happen.

This is a must buy for anyone who wants to discover all the amazing things they can make their Hero 6 do.

This book goes through a history of the multiple Brooklyn baseball teams in the three decades from 1850. These eventually coalesced, despite some temporary name changes along the way, into the Brooklyn Dodgers. The author then gives a history of the team - key players, managers and owners - from the late 19th century to the mid-twentieth century.However, for a book that purports to tell "the story" of the Brooklyn Dodgers, it has ambiguities, omissions and mistakes, and is desperately in need of a good editor.To begin, there is a photograph of the Brooklyn team of 1888. The author's caption "identifies" the players by their position in each row. But as some players were standing, sitting and in between, it is impossible to tell who is in which row. The caption does nothing to assist the reader and therefore the author's "identification" of the players is useless.Then there are the mistakes. The author has another picture, this one of the 1916 World Series, which he captions "...shows the only scoring action in the second game." As he states below that the final score was 2-1, there obviously were two more "scoring actions" in that game.Under a picture of Casey Stengel, the author writes that "...he led the Yankees to championships year in and year out in the 1950s and 1960s."Stengel's last Yankee pennant championship was in 1960; that single year hardly qualifies as "the 1960s". And while he did win eight pennants in the 1950s, he lost in two years; that was most of the decade but not "year in and year out".Then there are the omissions. The small one is in the caption of a picture Manager Wilbert Robinson and pitcher Rube Marquard. The caption says the pitcher's delivery was like a dance step he performed with his movie star wife. Having pointed out that she was a movie star begs the question: which movie star was his wife? But the author just ignores that.Another omission is Game 4 of the 1947 World Series. Cookie Lavagetto's pinch-hit double in the ninth inning breaking up Bill Beven's no-hitter was a historic moment in Brooklyn. But the author completely ignores it.But the biggest omission is with the 1950s Dodgers. The book's back page blurb claims "A large part of Brooklyn Dodgers is dedicated to those teams of the 1950s..." That is pure hype - and completely false. The key part of the book - covering the "Boys of Summer" - is in Chapter Eight, a very slim chapter and a very small part of the book. The 1955 World Series win is there, as are some of players. But just as many are not. A book about the 50s Dodgers not mentioning mainstay relief pitcher Clem Labine, making no note of Carl Furillo's unique ability to play balls hit off the concave right field wall - nor of his rifle arm throwing out runners at home plate - and not noting that Don Newcombe was not only an outstanding pitcher but was often used as a pinch hitter is hardly telling the Dodgers story.The book needed another dozen pages to cover the 1950s teams. It is a shame that this book, while giving much history, is such a letdown dealing with the key Dodger decade.

Author Mark Rucker has gotten hold of some priceless photographs from the Dodger archives in writing “Images of Sports: Brooklyn Dodgers” for ARCADIA PUBLISHING. Rucker includes photos of some of the most significant moments in Dodgers history, including Jackie Robinson staring at home as Bobby Thomson crosses the plate to give the Giants the pennant in 1951, and the great catch by Sandy Amoros in the 1955 World Series to help preserve the game 7 win for Johnny Podres. Balancing these moments of gravitas are spring training shots of Hugh Casey wearing a huge sombrero and of Harold “Pee Wee” Reese signing some autographs at Vero Beach.The book is divided into eight chapters, with the first page of each chapter containing a single photograph that is about twice the size of the other photographs in the book. Other than the introductory pages, generally, all pages of the book have two photographs on them.Among the nuggets of information that Rucker includes in his book are naming the pitcher who Joe DiMaggio called the “meanest man” he had ever seen. (DiMaggio was referring to Whitlow Wyatt, a pitcher in the 1940’s for the Dodgers, who Rucker calls an “aggressive knockdown artist.”) In his chapter titled “1910-1919,” Rucker provides two great shots of future manager Casey Stengel in his playing days, reminding us that Stengel could also play the game, as he hit .364 in the 1916 World Series, leading the Dodgers in batting in the series.The book is not flawless, as second baseman Jerry Coleman is identified as a shortstop on page 121 and on page 117 Rucker states Erskine held the World Series strikeout record of 14 until 1967, when in fact it was 1963 that the record was broken. Rucker fails to point out that the pitcher doing the breaking was none other than Sandy Koufax, who struck out 15 Yankees in game 1 of the World Series.In an ideal world, I would have enjoyed seeing more prose, especially in the introduction to each chapter, allowing Rucker to elaborate on the rich history of the Brooklyn franchise.All in all, this was a quick and enjoyable read.Note: The author of this review is also the author of “Spring Training with the Washington Nationals,” published by FONTHILL MEDIA in April 2015. As with the “Brooklyn Dodgers,” the book on the Nationals is 128 pages and uses some excellent photographs to tell its story. All photographs in “Spring Training with the Washington Nationals are in color and are part of Fonthill’s “Images of Modern America” series.

I'm a prenatal yoga teacher and use this among other books as resources. Has a weekly yoga pose for you as well as inspirational mantras, meditations, and breathing practices (pranayama). Good buy for a mom looking to start a prenatal home practice or gain awareness of her new pregnant body in a current yoga practice. This book can educate to keep you and baby safe.

This is the only pregnancy related book I have that makes me feel peaceful and joyful after reading. All my other books leave me full of anxiety and overwhelmed. So much so that this is the only book I read in most days. I wish all pregnancy literature was like this one.

I love not only the yoga moves, but the kind uplifting thoughts this book prompts you to think!

I am very much enjoying The Yoga of Pregnancy -- I purchased and read it on my kindle, which is great for me since I travel a lot for work, and I can't usually take the pregnancy books with me. It's organized weekly, so I can check on it and decide whether I want to spend more time in that week or maybe just read through to the next one. I find that with two young children already, being pregnant with number three is an entirely different experience, one in which I haven't gotten to spend the "me time" that came with my first. Since I know all the technical stuff by now, this was perfect because it's more of a focus on nurturing your thoughts, feelings, ideas and body. It can be a little touchy feely (I know that's a matter of taste), but it's a yoga book, what do you expect? anyway I would recommend it especially for those in my position, who don't have a lot of time for daily prenatal yoga classes, or are otherwise busy and trying to find a way to connect with your baby and yourself during pregnancy.

Warning to anyone familiar with any Yoga: this is not an informative book.It is basically a glorified photo album.It suggests one posture per week.

The love and chemistry between Abbie and Cameron was simply undeniable and they both were good people who deserved a chance at love and happiness."All I did was fight for the happiness I wanted to deserve. When . . . was it going to be my time? And hadn’t I given enough flesh?"I loved this book and I absolutely adored how quirky Abbie was. This book also made me aware of a very serious issue that is not discussed as much as it should be. And for that, I applaud the author. I highly recommend this book and Kate Stewart remains one of my very favorite contemporary romance authors.“But just so you know, you and me, we are absolute.”

Abbie the witchy woman and Cameron the king of woo. These two had me spellbound immediately after reading the first chapter. I was intrigued as they were when they caught each other’s gaze in that Sunny Side Cafe drinking coffee. Their looks said it all as did their hilarious coffee mugs but it was Abbie’s quirky, cautious and sarcastic personality that screwed it all up. Luckily fate strikes again and that second interaction in The Violet Hour is filled with chemistry and of course Abbie’s BFF , the hilarious and fabulous Bree who makes sure that Abbie has a second chance with Cameron at the Sunny Side Cafe.From that moment on Abbie and Cameron story is a delicious slow burn to get to know one another through words. Yes, they communicate through Airdrop while they sit in the cafe. It’s different and gives their interaction and relationship a more intimate feel. There’s a reason why they choose this way of getting to know one another and I won’t spoil it here. I enjoyed every aspect of this story and when they took it one step forward to actually dating and being intimate I was already head over heels in love with both Cameron and Abbie. He wooed me and Abbie made me laugh. Their chemistry was undeniable and sizzling hot. This was romance and I devoured it.Then the other shoe dropped. Yup, I didn’t see that coming and believe me I was thinking about some sort of twist or conflict along their blossoming romance but Kate Stewart had me totally mesmerized by her words that it hit me when I least expected it. My heart was shattered but Kate Stewart puts it back together effortlessly and with so much love and attention to her characters and their story. The topics are serious, taboo and very important. Kate Stewart puts her touch on the story, on a topic that needs more awareness and discussion. The reader becomes emotionally invested in Abbie and Cameron. The pace is spot on from the beginning and kept me glued to the pages. The epilogue left me on a high and with a smirk on my face. The title says it all. This story and its topics feels real and so does Abbie and Cameron’s love. Another smash from Kate Stewart.5 BadAssDirtyWichyAndWooStars

It pains me to leave a 3 star review, because I love this author and Drive was book of 2017 for me, but this one didn’t work for me. It wasn’t as tight or as polished as Drive and at times felt manic.I found the pacing quite slow in the beginning, whilst overall it was wordy or over written with information and conversations that had no bearing on the story.The premise of Cameron and Abbie communicating via messages on their Mac was a brilliant idea but it was overdone and went on for far too long. So much so that it didn’t feel realistic to me and I didn’t buy it.I love a strong heroine and not one that is bitter or plays the victim card and sadly that’s how Abbie came across to me right from the beginning and I lost interest.Cameron was a great character and I thought his secret was what saved the story.......This book has a very interesting premise and a great hero with a very unusual secret that is well worth reading. I love Kate Stewart and the idea of this book. It’s the execution and delivery that let me down. I’m in the minority with my opinion because there is a lot love and 5 star reviews for this book.
