just completely fascinating to see how much different the really rich are,Okay, she buys this amazing property on the California coastline and then converts the entire property, grounds included, to look like an old New England Mill. She got them digging and moving earth around and around over and over until it just perfect for her. Put in stone walls, take em down, put in ponds, make it look like they've always been here. the house, its so huge and no one lives really lives in it. She lives in a second smaller house on the property. OMG you've just got to see what she did in her "basement" She builds a replica of a little mall with storefronts and shops. I found this book amazing Not an easy task to satisfy this woman, I wouldn't want to be James Brolin
I was waiting for an appointment and found this beautiful large book in the waiting room. I fell in love and needed to see more. Each photo and story is beautifully shared to give us a tender view of Barbara's building and design experience. The photos are amazing and I am very picky about photos. Immediately I found myself right at home nestled in her rich fabrics with colors and visual textures that matched my taste perfectly. Who knew I would have so much in common with a megastar! I feel lucky to have such a beautiful reference book to start my renovations from. I am inspired. Barbra come to help me!

Well written, gives great insight to her attention to detail and her passion for everything she does. I love this book and have given to many friends and Family members as gifts Don't just look at all the amazing pictures read the entire book to see all the work that went into creating the "Barn House" and her beautiful gardens plus she takes you on a journey of the other 2 houses on the compundThis book has been a great inspiration to me as I decorate my own house. Great for getting ideas and learning how much work went into this Dream House. I highly recommend this book! You will love the pictures and the work and attention to every detail that Barbra put into this dream project
I am totally disappointed and am returning. This book came unprotected in the package, paper book cover is bent both top and bottom and cover is all marked as if someone was drawing on it. Not suitable for gift giving at all, not suitable as a book you would display. First bad experience I've had with Amazon, but am totally disheartened.
What a beautiful pictorial tour through Ms. Streisand's estate. She has another talent in decorating to add to all the others. It took you through each room and she explained the design and the road taken to get from the thoughts to the finished room. Each item selected has a story behind it and many of the items she had collected for many years just waiting for the right room to place them in. So much love went into her designing of this estate. It is a most amazing tour through her eyes and worth every minute.
i would highly recommend this book. Barbara did all the work herself. the photography and design of the book is fabulous. for those interested in design i would buy recommend it. beautiful to look at.
I never knew she was such a fantastic writer and her knowledge is amazing. I loved the book so much I started reading it all over again. Since I started reading it I had three friends get the book because I could not stop raving about it, and they love it just as much as I. Barb if you read this PLEASE write more it was like you were here with me having a cup of coffee and sharing your knowledge. I loved it...
Beautiful picture book, but totally out of the realm of the average homeowner. This is a very, wealthy wealthy woman who can afford to bring in fine antiques and bring in the finest workman. She even said she had a sofa recovered twice because she didn't like it as much as she thought she would. How many people can afford to do this? That said, it's a beautiful coffee table book and will spark many design conversations and inspirations.
