I am expecting twin in a couple of months, and every "baby book" I read for twins just felt like robotic instructions... The author made me feel like we were friends and she was giving helpful advice. I somehow now feel like I might actually survive two babies at one time.

Lots of good information with a lighthearted feel. Author is reassuring and has down to earth advice about surviving the first year.

A more realistic view of what it's like to carry and then care for twins

I cruised through this book it was so good. A lot of great tips, some that would probably be helpful for moms of just one baby. I read during my pregnancy and will refer to this book when my twins are born. This is the first non boring baby book I've read. Some of the stuff in here will make you laugh too! I gave to my Mom to read too and she loved it!

Bought it as a gift to my sister in law. She loves it.

I got this book as a gift for my cousin who found out she's expecting twins and she absolutely loved it.

I got this book a bit late (my twins were 3 months already) but it had some great tips to manage my twins. Iâ€™m already looking at getting the book for the toddler years!!

The book: What a load of crap!Amazon: excellent as promised

I read this book in 1978 from cover to cover. For me, it clarified many early childhood experiences which likely caused pain and avoidance to situations which may or may not have been harmful. I feel it's important to have a chart which identifies parts of the "mind" and shows how sneezing (a bouncer) is sometimes just a distraction/avoidance to distract from an earlier painful emotional experience. This book if nothing else is a road map to enlightenment. I do not endorse Scientology; however, I believe L. Ron Hubbard made some significant contributions to society and this book (in my opinion) is as important as having a shovel if you wish to dig at some dirt.

I read this book as I walked up to a Scientology counter in Portsmouth city center when I was feeling rather down, depressed and lost in 2004. After an electrical experiment at the counter I was given the book Dianetics that I read quite quickly. It didn't seem too influential to me and didn't resonate with what I needed to become more secure. I found it resemble Freud's technique of psychoanalysis where the memories of the past influenced the memories of the present. The unit of memory in L. Ron Hubbard's approach that influences the present seems rather based on common sense in how I grew up and was educated in the 1980s but that was all that I found theoretically right but even that was not practical in terms of finding security in a confused time in my life. It was easily readable and the simplicity may attract some but after finding out about L. Ron Hubbard's past and his interest in Satanic doctrine and relationships I realized not only was I glad I did not conform to the rules of Dianetics but that they did not work for me and seemed even irrelevant or unusable in my life. I give Dianetics a two star grade as it remains a relevant book in history through the institution of Scientology even though I do not agree with their values but the book was relatively well written and had adequate context of its philosophy.

Poorly written pseudo-science with no credible evidence to back up L Ron Hubbard's claims. It is interesting on the level of the view of the creator of Scientology and his thoughts during the early 1950's. If you want to read it, purchase an inexpensive copy as you will want to see/return it.

Got this for my girlfriend, who currently studies fashion design. She absolutely loved it, we were surprised how many different designs you can create with it. it has templates for production design sketches. 600 pages of woman pose and accessories outline templates, it's great for everyone who loves fashion and illustration. while drawing with markers my girlfriend used A4 regular print paper under the page, so that color doesnâ€™t bleed on the page below, and it worked perfectly. I think itâ€™s a brilliant idea, all the designs are organized in sections, and also you got all you need to create your first collection, it has increased her sketching ability tenfolds. Everyone who loves design and fashion will absolutely enjoy this sketchpad.

In the past, it took me longer to make my sketches, with this sketchpad I can draw my designs immediately as I get the idea. I can now create the whole looks and show them to my clients so they can choose from my designs, and I love the idea that it stays as a portfolio book after you are done with all your sketches. In World War II, Germany waged some of the most technically advanced warfare ever witnessed. They leveraged advances in aerodynamics, rocketry, chemicals and medicine to rain destruction and terror on their enemies. As the war ended, the fate of the scientists and engineers who created these innovations were of major interest to the victorious allied forces. There was, however, a huge problem with these Nazi scientists: Many were significant war criminals, some personally responsible for committing atrocious crimes during the conflict.In the warâ€™s aftermath, the US was left with a dilemma: Should they take advantage of the scientistâ€™s expertise? Prosecute them for their crimes? Or risk having them captured by the Soviets, just as the Cold War was beginning?Author Annie Jacobsen chronicles the rapidly spinning moral compass the US faced dealing with the fate of the German experts. Using a wide range of documents (including some only recently de-classified for this book) she traces the stories of many notable scientists, and the â€œOperation Paperclipâ€ the US set up to sanitize their Nazi past. Wernher von Braun, for example, is known to most Americans as the heroic NASA designer who designed the Saturn-V rocket carrying astronauts to the moon. But in WWII, his V-2 missiles killed thousands of civilians in England and northern Europe. The underground factory constructing these missiles worked thousands more concentration camp prisoners to their deaths.This book traces the frantic search for the scientists and their work as WWII wound down, then the bureaucratic push and pull as various agencies struggled with the scientists fates as well as prosecuting others for war crimes. Finally, she traces the ultimate fate of some of the scientists. Some had prosperous new lives as successful engineers and businessmen. Others ultimately died in disgrace as their Nazi past caught up to them. The book is an important chapter of post-war history just now coming to light.

I especially enjoyed reading this well researched book on the US Post WWII intelligence collection operations which gave us some great benefits in exchange for the carnage and horror WWII inflicted on countless millions. Not a fair exchange I fully agree, however, obtaining this information allowed the USA to win the space race. Having worked at Redstone Arsenal (next to the Marshall Space Flight Center) where the first rockets to carry an American in space were developed, you can see Werner Von Braun's initials on every liquid fueled rocket that has come out of the USA. Without these guys (who the the Paperclip Team offered asylum to), the USSR would have been way ahead of us. One interesting fact is that had Hitler resorted to using the nerve gas agents he had (i.e. Tabun) Germany could have won the war. Why a madman like Hitler did not use it is a mystery. One family relation (my great uncle George Lear shown below) actively participated in this operation. Theodore Sumrall

This is an exceptional read, despite its innocuous title. It is thoroughly and comprehensively documented and though I thought I knew a great deal about Operation Paperclip, having researched it myself, I found multiple revelations affirming the author's thoroughness in uncovering facts and information long buried in various government and media vaults. Fascinating read that will strip away the conventional and reveal the true power plays behind the curtain. Very highly recommended.

This part of the history of rocket science was of particular interest to me as someone who was brought to the USA as a baby because of Operation Paperclip. My father had worked in Berlin and we ended up in Wright Field. I knew we had travelled to Niagara Falls when I was 2 or 3 to officially enter the USA across the Rainbow Bridge. Now I know exactly how/why that happened and all the politics behind it. For me it was fun to find a few names (but not mine) that I recognized from childhood memories in a major historical event. But then I am a history buff and a genealogist. As for the book itself, it is well written and presumably well researched. My parents had always said that von Braun was a very conceited individual (they used much stronger language though) so I can attest to that research information personally. My father was amazed at what the Americans did NOT know technically about rocket design, even in the 1950's as he had learned all that at University in Munich the 30s! Also another member of my extended family was a rocket scientist in Berlin at the same company and was dragged off to Russia. His house was surrounded by machine guns and the family had 24 hours to get their stuff together.They were there for 10 years before being released. So the competition between Russia and the USA to get these German rocket experts was very real.

If you're looking for a nice coffee-table book with reproductions of Roerich's paintings, this book will do nicely. If you're looking for a text biography of Roerich, this book will also do. It's basically a combination of the two.Unlike many coffee table books, the text you're getting is not sparse: you're getting a respectable, critical biography, not just a load of hagiographic gushing. But that, unfortunately, is the problem. When you sit down to read through it, you've got this awkward book to hold, making it hard to curl up with this thing.Purists might want to note that the color plates are matte. I'm no judge of paper quality, but the caliber of the reproductions didn't strike me as especially stunning. If you simply care about the quality of the color reproductions, I don't think you're going to be jumping for joy when you see this.

At first, worried about the quality of paperback (prefer to buy hard cover), yet was very impressed upon arrival.Great book! Hubby loved it. Very interesting and informative book, with great painting pictures. Few books available about Nicholas Roerich, and this one is GREAT!

This is an excellent book on the beautiful and inspiring paintings of Russian artist Nicholas Roerich. Exceptional value with 88 colour reproductions of his work. The written material is faultless and fascinating. Roerich was dedicated to Beauty and I find that whenever I dip into this book I am completely captivated by his ability to speak to my innermost heart and spirit through the language of colour and the rich symbolism of his paintings. Fascinated by the legends of Shambhala and the wisdom of the ancients, Roerich's paintings and Decter's words take us on a wonderful journey that will enrich our lives. Roerich was a very deeply spiritual man and so his paintings serve this higher purpose. If you wish to light the inner fire of your spirit through art and beauty, then this is the book for you.

Love love love! My 2 year old son has recently become obsessed with excavators and he loves the Llama Llama books, so this book could not have come at a better time. He was VERY excited just seeing the cover of the book when it arrived. I read it to him 2 nights in a row at bedtime. By the 3rd night he had the book nearly memorized cover to cover and could "read" it to me. Its a cute story - Little E gets into all kinds of trouble at the construction site because he's not big enough, but then there is a job that none of the big trucks can do and Little E saves the day. You get to see other construction vehicles in action - front loader, dump truck, backhoe. Wonderful illustrations, nice message, fun to read, perfect for any little kid who loves construction.

Love this sweet little story! All about how there are lots of jobs out there and sometimes Littleâ€™s ones canâ€™t do everything but there is always something they can do to help. Love that the use the correct terms like excavator instead of big digger. My husband loved reading this to our 10 month old.

I am sure that I am in the minority here, but not a huge fan of the llama lllama books. However, my 2 year old is going through an intense construction phase, so we picked this up. OBSESSED. She can basically repeat the entire book verbatim since we have read it so much. She loves it and constantly talks about "little E". It's a cute story with a very readable rhyme structure. Illustrations have great detail that are great since you will literally read this book over and over and over. Sad to lose such a wonderful author and illustrator.

I got this book in Amazon's book club for my little girls age 18m and 3yrs. We go to library and they have tons of board books from misc used sales, but I joined book club because I wanted quality books everyone would like and enjoy. I would have NEVER picked this book for them if I came across it, but it was a 100% instant LOVE of theirs and became a quick FAVORITE of all of ours. I am so pleased and would recommend this book for anyone. It is fun read, has a great story and pictures, and best of all has a great message. Its 5 stars all the way around. I am very thankful we received this book as we would have missed out on all the fun if I hadn't joined the book club. The other book for the month was, "Where Do Steam Trains Sleep At Night?" This too was a great book! Thank you very much.

Another wonderful book by Anna Dewdney! It's very sad that it was her first in this series (she also did the Llama Llama books) and she passed away very young from a brain tumor. Both of my 18 month old granddaughters love this book, as do their parents. Highly recommend this book for ages 18 months and up.

Wonderful book for toddlers. The colors are bold and vibrant. Easy words for toddlers to recognize. My grandson will be 3 and this is one of his favorite books. Iâ€™m so sorry there arenâ€™t more books about this little excavator. We have many of the llama books by the same author, and they are wonderful too. Looked for more books by this author and my heart broke knowing she had recently died. We will surely treasure these books.

My granddaughter (age 4) loves this book! She likes the pictures and rhymes, how Little Excavator keeps trying to do what the big rigs do, and then finally there is something that only Little Excavator is able to do.This is also my two year old grandson's absolute favorite book; it must be read at least two times every bedtime, more if Mama is willing to read it again during the day. Mighty, Mighty Construction Site is beloved, but Little Excavator is the champion!

If you have a little boy age 224 who loves any construction trucks, this is the best book for him. You will be inspired by little he's constant willingness to keep trying even when he fails or falls down, and will be inspired by his final success in the end. My kids love this book! The illustrations are gorgeous, the Rhymes are amazingly written, the language is simple and the story is heartwarming :-)

More of a polemic on the political world today and a quantum leap from the rule of Benedict to today curious but not profound.

A little slow in the beginning, but worth it at the end to address ethnicity and culture in context of the Church. a worthwhile read

interesting book. but i dont agree with the author that empire creates a culture vucuum. there were many empires in hstory that had culture. so the author has not demonstrated why empires have no culture.

I was hoping that he would explain what exactly are Benedict rule and how they where applied, there where some indications like obedience ( Bing Coachable) which is laking in our society, how like being told what to do? Othere then that, it is a must read to understand what is happening to our society and in the world in general...
